Luckily for some men, a recent fashion trend among certain Hollywood stars has made it not just acceptable, but downright sexy for men to be bald. The style is tricky, and some can’t pull it off, but the clean-shaven look has definitely got several stars who can really rock it. And for many of them, they look even better than they did with hair.
1. Samuel L. Jackson
This dynamic actor known for his colorful colloquialisms once sported a full head of hair, even going so far as to wear a jerry curl in the movie Pulp Fiction. But since his appearance as Jedi Master, Mace Windu, in the Star Wars Prequels, he has mostly appeared with a shaven scalp. He claims he always knew he could experiment with looks via wigs, and ever since he has never regretted it.
2. Stanley Tucci
One of the most recognizable character actors in film, Stanley Tucci first experienced his hair loss in his thirties. However, like many confident men, he embraced the change, knowing it was not likely to get any better.
“I had classic male-pattern baldness, which is not necessarily very attractive,” he once said in an interview. “So you do get to the point where you just say, forget it.” It hasn’t seemed to hurt his ability to be cast in some of the biggest Hollywood franchises.
3. Jason Statham
This English heartthrob is well known for his action films, like Transporter and The Fast and the Furious. While he had long hair in certain roles during his early career, when he started receding, he went with the close-cropped stubble look rather than the smooth shave.
“Hair just doesn’t suit me,” he once claimed, and many fans seem to agree.
4. Vin Diesel
The Fast and Furious franchise seems to have a thing for hairless hunks. Vin Diesel was one of the earliest action actors to really embrace the look, claiming that he began to notice his hair thinning during High School. He appeared with a fully shaven head during one of his breakout roles as Riddick in Pitch Black. Since then, he has made it so iconic that many fans cannot imagine him any other way.
5. Woody Harrelson
Known for an unruly blond mop in his first role as Woody the Bartender on Cheers, Woody Harrelson has since embraced his hair loss, often sporting both the Mr. Clean slick shave and the more stubbled style. He too has used wigs to create characters, like his recent role in Solo: A Star Wars Story, while also giving fans the razored scalp look in both appearances in the Zombieland movies.
Not bad for a guy who once personified the 80’s shag style. Some might say he looks even better today.
